Terms of Sale and Use
One payment gives you a personal, permanent licence to read everything in the library, including seasons published later. You do not own the writing and may not redistribute it. If we ever have to close the library, we will tell you well in advance.
In effect from 24 August 2026. Chumy Spot LLC, trading as Chumy.
1. Who we are
The library at Chumy is sold and operated by Chumy Spot LLC, registered at [[ STREET ADDRESS ]], Florida, United States. You can reach us at [[ SUPPORT EMAIL ]], and we aim to answer within five working days.
“We” and “us” mean that company. “You” means the person holding the account.
2. These terms
Creating an account or buying access means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not buy — and if you have already bought, write to us and we will refund you in full.
We may change these terms. If a change materially reduces what you get for what you already paid, we will tell you by email before it takes effect, and you may ask for a refund. Changes that only clarify wording, or that affect purchases made after the change, will simply be posted here with a new effective date.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to buy access, since a purchase is a contract. If you are between 13 and 18 you may hold an account only with a parent or guardian’s involvement.
- Give accurate details, and keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One account is for one person. Access is not to be shared, sold, lent, or pooled.
- Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got into your account.
4. What you are buying
A single payment buys a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read the library for as long as we operate it. It is a licence to read, not a sale of the writing itself, and it includes seasons published after your purchase at no extra cost.
You may not:
- copy, republish, post, or distribute the writing or the media in it, in whole or in substantial part;
- sell, sublicense, rent, or share your access with anyone else;
- use automated means to download or scrape the library in bulk;
- remove or obscure any notice of authorship or ownership;
- use any of it to train a machine-learning model, commercially or otherwise.
Quoting short passages for review, criticism, teaching or private study, with attribution, is fine and is expressly permitted.
5. Price and payment
The price is the one shown at checkout at the moment you pay. Payment is taken by Stripe; your card details are entered into fields hosted by Stripe and never reach our servers.
We may change the price of the library for future buyers at any time. A change never affects a purchase already made — you will not be charged again, and you will not be refunded the difference.
Prices are in US dollars. Where we are required to collect sales tax, it is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay.
6. Cancellation and refunds
The library unlocks the moment you pay. United States law gives no general cooling-off period for a digital purchase made online, so the 14-day refund we offer is something we choose to give rather than something you are owed — and we offer it because it is the right way to sell a book nobody has read yet.
If you are buying from outside the United States, any mandatory consumer right you have where you live continues to apply on top of this. Where such a right depends on when digital content was supplied, the confirmation you give at checkout — that you want access immediately — is what fixes that moment.
The detail is in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
7. The library may change
We edit. Chapters get revised, reordered and occasionally withdrawn — for example if we lose the right to include something, or if it is wrong. We do not promise that any particular chapter stays available in the form you first read it.
What we do promise is not to hollow out what you bought: we will not reduce the library to materially less than it was when you paid, except where the law or a third party’s rights leave us no choice.
8. If we ever close the library
“Permanent” access is honest about what it means: for as long as we run the service. Should we decide to stop:
- we will email everyone holding access at least 90 days beforehand;
- during that period we will make a reasonable effort to let you keep or export what you bought;
- if you bought within the 12 months before the announcement, you may ask for a pro-rata refund.
This clause does not apply if we have to stop suddenly through insolvency or an order we cannot lawfully refuse, though we will still tell you as much as we can, as early as we can.
9. Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break, probe, or circumvent the access controls; do not interfere with the service or with other readers; do not use the service unlawfully. We are glad to hear from security researchers — write to [[ SUPPORT EMAIL ]] rather than testing against other people’s accounts.
10. Ownership
The writing, images, film, design and code remain ours, or our licensors’. Nothing here transfers ownership. The rights you get are exactly the reading licence described in section 4.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms — sharing your account, redistributing the writing, or attempting to defeat the paywall. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.
If we end your access for a breach you did not commit, we will reinstate it or refund you. If we end it for a breach you did, no refund is due.
You may close your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
12. What we do not promise
The library is offered as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every chapter is free of mistakes, or that it is fit for any particular purpose you have in mind. It is writing, not advice — do not rely on it as professional, medical, legal or financial guidance.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by anything written here.
Subject to that, our total liability arising out of your use of the library is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
We are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses — the service is sold for personal use.
14. The salon is separate
Chumy also runs a salon. Booking an appointment happens on a third-party booking platform under that platform’s terms and the salon’s own terms of service. Nothing on this page governs salon appointments, and buying the library gives you no rights in respect of them.
15. Complaints
Write to [[ SUPPORT EMAIL ]] and tell us what went wrong. We would far rather fix a problem directly than have you take it elsewhere, and nothing here stops you from doing so if we fail.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [[ COUNTY ]] County, Florida, and we each consent to those courts.
If you live outside the United States, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protection that applies where you live, and nothing above deprives you of the right to bring a claim in your local courts where the law gives you that right.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
